Finally after new Mumbai local trains opened for Public on 18th March 2015. Rake number 5005 started on 11.32 am Churchgate – Borivali line.
Highlighted Features:
- Western Railway has introduced its new-age Bombardier rakes. (Bombardier Inc is a Canadian company which manufacture both planes and trains.)
- The new train were introduced 17 months after their arrival, because Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation were doing the trials for for 17 months.
- The new Mumbai local train are an upgraded version of the Siemens rakes that were procured under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project-II.
- New Mumbai local train has 2 new attraction:
- One is the grab pole allowing two people to hold on to it.
- Other one is the hexagon shape middle pole at the entrance which will allow faster alighting and boarding.
- New Mumbai local train’s seats are more comfortable and its more spacious.
- The new Mumbai local train can run upto 130 kmph but the speed limit is restricted to 70-80 kmph on Churchgate-Dahanu road stretch.
