A 38-year-old woman had died in a freak mishap at her tenement in Kashimira late on Sunday night. After post-mortem the body was handed over to her relatives on Monday. However, when the family members and relatives reached local civic crematorium to conduct final rites they were shocked to find the entire area unattended. Both the on-duty personnel were mysteriously missing.
“We had duly informed them about our scheduled arrival well in advance. However, both remained untraceable for more than four hours. And more shockingly nobody cared to turn up despite our frantic calls to senior civic officials,” alleged local corporator Anil Bhosale.
“Two civic personnel, Pounuswami Punnalai and Solanki, who were supposed to be present at the crematorium have been suspended for dereliction of duty,” confirmed an officer.
