One of MyMiraRoad reader asked us –
“Can Mira road west will be developed as industrial hub,IT park,Manufacturing hub as people in the vicinity will get jobs instead of the land lying vacant and unproductive ?”
Answer:
For this Government needs to change its policy towards Mira Road west development. Currently, Mira Road west area fall under Coastal Regulation Zone (CZR) and are marked as Non Agriculture Land. These lands were used as Salt pans in the west. The Floor Space Index (FSI) near coastal zones and non agriculture nature have less or 0.25 FSI therefore no builder is interested in any kind of development.

Before 2015, there were plans to develop the region. But, thanks to the July 24th, 2005 Mumbai Floods, the government changed its policies and made sure that the mangroves are protected.

But its high time to use Mira Road west area for setting up MIDC, SEZ which can attract lots of business there, of course keeping environment in mind. This will hugely benefits for people residing on Dahisar-Virar belt.

Here are few pics of Mira Road West which is completely covered with salt pans and mangroves.
