A BPO executive, who had gone out with friends for dinner late on Thursday, lost her life after reportedly falling off a bike at Malad West. The biker is believed to have fled without taking her to a doctor. The Bangur Nagar police are procuring CCTV footage from the neighbourhood to establish the sequence of events and for obtaining clues on the accused’s identity.

The victim, Pinky Patel, 23, resided at Mira Road with her family. She worked at a BPO in Powai. On Thursday night, Patel went to Evershine Nagar in Malad West to meet a group of friends for dinner.

“After having food, Patel was riding pillion on a bike with an unidentified youth. The bike was in speed and hit a bump on the road. The impact caused Patel to fall off and sustain injuries while the biker fled,” said investigating officer RV Kadam.

Local residents said there had been a couple of accidents lately due to the high bump. “We are recording statements of Patel’s friends who don’t seem to be acquainted with the biker. We are also trying to trace independent witnesses from the area,” said Kadam.
